2005 Arts Festival Events and Dates
Childrens Arts Festival • May 28
Decatur Recreation Center, 231 Sycamore St.
Hands-on art activities, storytellers, clowns, ponies, music and more!
9:30 am • Community Parade
Join the parade and help us kick off the festival. Once again the parade will be led by Ruby the Clown and his amazing one-man band, assisted by Anna Rohr the stilt walker and the Decatur Fire Department. This years parade will have a Mardi Gras theme, so dress up and help us throw prizes to the crowd of onlookers. Meet at the corner of Church Street and Commerce Drive.
10 am • Childrens Arts Festival
Many favorites are back this year: Ron Jon Juggling, Kays Ponies, T-shirt decorating, the Fish game, Mama Kokus storytelling, and artsand- crafts activities. The Decatur Recreation Departments Animal Crackers will lead jewelry- making and arts-and-crafts projects and conduct a shoot the hoops game. Children will decorate surfboard and Hawaiian shirt cutouts at the Community Art Project booth. These decorations will be used for the Decatur Beach Party in June. A caf and rest area will be available in view of the toddlers-only play area, so weary parents can take a rest.
